Time Line and events which affected political, social and economic situations of Burma.
The followings are observations of the past and present situations in Burma (Myanmar) in
comparison with the close neighbor, Thailand.
1)       In 1932 Yodaya (ယုိးဒယား) or Siam (သွ်မ္း) changed their name, to Thai and the country became
Thailand. Why they did it? The principle reasons are as follow:
(a)    The French are colonizing Kambodia (Kamboja) and part of Vietnam (then called Champa of Chamba) formerly Indianized states. It was probably the name SukunThai derived from "Sakundiya". Then eventually from Sukun Thai change to Thai and Thailand.
(b)   The British had already successfully colonized Indian Sub-continent (South Asia) and the whole Burma. In the past occasionally, Yodaya (ယုိးဒယား) was conquered by Burma and the colonialists would considered that it was part of the latter, Burma. But Yodaya (ယုိးဒယား) or Siam (သွ်မ္း) were  wise and prevented as they did not wish to become colony.
Both French and British were eyeing Siam (သွ်မ္း) for the same purpose. Then the Siam (သွ်မ္း) ally with French and British  to prevent from becoming  French’s or British’s colony and slavery. But there was big price they paid. A substantial loss of lands which they claim, according to Siam sources.
2)     Just about the time when Japan came in or invaded Burma and British so-called successful withdrawal, U Nu and some Dobamar Asiaayone members, thakhins are in Mandalay Jail. Later we will provide exact time and documentary details which was written by U Nu (Thakhin Nu) as “Burma under Japanese Rule or Era”. The one, savior or who bailed out U Nu and some Thakhins were one “General Wang” of Nationalist Army. Then Thakhin Than Tun was in Monywa prison and was rescued by the Gen. Wang and his team. It was a gratitude for U Nu and some Thakhins.
3)     Then in mid and late 1950’s the Kuomintang or Nationalist were spilled over into eastern and northeastern Burma due to defeat caused by then Communist China.
4)     Bo Kyaw Zaw and Burma Army (Tat-ma-daw=ဗမာ့ တပ္မေတာ္) fought the tough battles with the Kuomintang or Nationalist. Then Burma Government requested the United Nation to intervene and UN asked the Kuomingtang to leave Burma. They Kuomingtang left Burma and went into Thailand. This is the history. But some of them had left behind and mixed with local people and probably naturally localized. Now Gen (retired) Tin Oo (NLD) is telling the history events. Please listen to him as he was also involved. He has more information.
5)     In 1988 there were general unrest of students and all populace of Burma. Subsequently the western nations, their allied and partially Japan posted economic sanctions on then Burma’s military government for the reasons, undemocratic and crime against humanity. Quite smart and interested parties went in with capital and some technical knowhow and helped Military Government. After two decades of their presence, they are deeply rooted in Burma and Burmese economy and strongly linked to governmental mechanism. Many nationalist speakers, writers, artiste, engineers, intellectuals, students and opposition political leaders are aware and raised the issue constantly. They have valid reasons to concern for the current situation of Burma and the government.
6)     Now, since the so-called civilian government resumed the ruling power there are racial and religious discriminations and atrocities started and continuing in the disguise of fear for Muslims conquering Buddhist Burma. It (the reason) is nonsense and unfounded. But those extremists including some monks are behind the drive of covered nationalism. It is actually deprived and obscured the country and its people for not realizing actual facts which are driving the country from Burma to Myanmar and eventually becoming something similar to Thailand.

7)     This is absolute problem and paramount challenge for the peoples of Burma, including armed forces, sangahs, students, and all races and ethnic tribes (Chin,Kachin, Karen, Kayah, Shan (သွ်မ္း ), Mon, Rakhine, and all associated minority tribal races) in all strata of the populace. Kindly understand that DASSK and NLD are a Gould among the thorns They can do that much but all must see it as the common cause and meet, discuss and work together to overcome the problem. It is political and should find solution politically.
The challenges for the Burmese (Myanmar) youths are to compete with the migrant expatriates and probably the workforce (as the foreign companies which invested in the country would bring in their own language speaking workers). Burmese (Myanmar) youths are must work hard smartly and also need to learn advance technology, computer sciences and relevant foreign languages on the job. Some foreigners think that Burman are not industrious. So they, Burman must prove otherwise.

8) Since we are young what we learned from the school  and elders that Shan state is called Maw Shan (ေမာသွ်မ္း) or Kambawza (Kamboja) = ကေမၻာဇ.  We love these names.

{clarification: We wish the new generation Burmese youth to know the history of Burma and the role of tatmataw. At the same time we have no intention to hurt our friends in Taiwan. ျမန္မာ လူငယ္မ်ား ျမန္မာ့ သမိုင္း ႏွင့္ တပ္မေတာ္ ၏ အခန္းကို သိေစလို ျခင္းသာ ျဖစ္ပါသည္။ ထိုင္ဝမ္မွ မိတ္ေဆြမ်ား ကို စိတ္မထိခိုက္ေစလိုပါ။}
